The annual examination course for Arabic coaches from Dubai took place from the 17th – 22nd of May at the Sportschule Wedau and produced seven new and proud C-Licence-holders.

Because of the difficult economical situation in the Gulf region, which causes a huge forfeit to many people working down there, there were at least seven well-prepared coaches to be welcomed by me on Monday afternoon at the airport in Düsseldorf.

After the check-in, a short common walk to get to know the real nice venue and of course a “halal” diner, all coaches went to bed very early to recover from the exhausting flight and to prepare for next days theoretical and practical tutorials

The time-table on Tuesday consists mainly of a short repetition revolving around Children and Youth soccer, including its special needs, modern demands and training concepts focussing on creating fun and successful experience.

.

On Wednesday morning Course manager Mr. Udo Hain, UEFA-Pro Coach and one of three sports teacher of the FVN, offered a broad variety of exercises and games reflecting many technical focuses.

Because of the little number of coaches they all had to be very busy on the pitch to realize a proper demonstration. Even Mr. Mohammed Afifey, co-organizer and translator, was involved in the practice and had to show his huge talents as a soccer player for elaborating different practice demonstrations.

So after a long day full of tactical focuses in theory and practice the subjects for the practical exam were distributed to them and all coaches were busy till around 2 o’clock at night to be prepared for next days’ exam.

This started after lunch with a written test revolving around many different subjects of children and youth soccer. The candidates had to draw training organizations in regard of improving several technical items or they had to fill in the correct positions of players in different game situations. They also had to answer questions about the structure of youth training or the different tasks of a modern thinking coach.

All in all it took nearly one hour and after collecting the papers they had to hurry to the pitch to prepare their practical demonstrations.

Two technical and five tactical subjects were chosen from us and they all passed their tasks successfully with only some corrections and references regarding the correct distances, an easier organization or an even more targeted coaching Gallerybehaviour.

Friday morning at the final ceremony when the licences were issued by the course instructors both of them were satisfied with the results of the exam and Mr. Hain figured out, that all of them deserve the licence according to German benchmarks and wished them good luck for their future career as coaches.

Dr. Thissen, DFA-founder and general manager, deliberately appeared for this official moment, pointed out that it was worth all efforts ahead and during this years’ course to see the coaches that happy and satisfied with the licences in their hand.

He also thanked all persons involved with a special gratitude to Mr. Musab Al Hassoun, manager of all sports activities at Al Ittihad Private School in Dubai and Mr. Afifey for organizing, hosting, supporting and translating during the whole course. “Without them it would not have worked that well”!

Like last year a lot of photos were taken and the coaches could enjoy later on a free afternoon and evening for their personal leisure time interests either in Düsseldorf, Duisburg or Oberhausen before they depart home to Dubai on Saturday with some nice gifts for their families in their luggage.
